Santa Maria Capua Vetere

Santa Maria Capua Vetere

A beautiful idealic town in the province of Caserta- where Spartacus was trained at the Gladiator school (ludus) here in what was then known as Capua is now known as one of the most dangerous mafia regions in Italy. We went down to meet with locals to discuss food, politics and how English as a second language is saving force. Believe it or not, no one sees them. Canosa di Puglia – Italy’s Breadbasket

Canosa di Puglia – Italy’s Breadbasket

Canosa di Puglia was founded by Greeks but you who would have known? The Romans were here too, but all of the Greek and Roman artifacts are found at the British Museum, Villa Giulia in Rome, Taranto Museum, and other non-Canosan museums. Some have crates, others trucks, mostly just a bed sheet or parachute covered in bright green dirty pods!

When in Canosa, Check out <...

Not surprisingly I still have this fascination with seasonal veggies and fruits and despise oranges in summer or figs in May – it just doesn’t feel right! Living in Tuscany was easy- there was only seasonal! But the past 10 years in Rome, things have changed, we are cosmopolitan, and it is the city, so people eat from gr...
